Halloween Decor

So lets talk Halloween Y'all =)

Every year we try to pick up a few new decorations to add to our collection, but I also like to make some as well. I am addicted to DIY projects and crafting in general so the holiday season is my absolute fave time of year. Now as much as my hubby would like to put up the super scary blood and guts kind of Halloween, we have two little ones and that just wont fly. SO we do the cutesy Halloween decorations which is FINE BY ME (every time we watch a scary movie we have to immediately watch a Disney movie or I'll have nightmares. Lame I know). Here is what I made this year with the help of my baby girl.
The mirrors we had made a few months back as a knock off Pottery Barn type thing and were ridiculously easy to do. I took some burlap fabric from my local fabric store and stenciled Trick Or Treat onto them to hang over the mirrors. I then added polka dots because they have a special place in my heart and I'd add them to everything if my hubby allowed it. I covered some old ugly frames with scrapbook paper (LOVE modpodge!!) and did the same with a little bird house from Michaels. The glass canister is also from Michaels and I usually fill it with Halloween candy. Then I took some old bottles and glued cute poison labels onto them. You could absolutely add green food coloring to water to fill them with but I haven't gotten that far yet. I'm slacking I know. Then all I did was lay more burlap down on the table and voila =) super cute if you ask me.

So lets talk about my mantle. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on who you ask) there is a giant T.V. sitting atop my glorious mantle. So anything tall is out of the question. Boo. So my decorating challenge is constantly trying to find ways to decorate my mantle without blocking the ever so precious television. So this year I just put a few pages of scrap book paper in shadow boxes and threw them up there with some garland and glittered Halloween decor =) not the most fabulous Halloween mantle but it works.

I hope this gives some of y'all some ideas for your Halloween decor!! I am working on a chalkboard pumpkin situation to put outside the door to greet people so stay tuned for that =)

Happy Halloween Y'all

A girls gotta get her bead on...

I recently have decided to take on jewelry making because, well why not, and it has be ah-may-zing. I love making jewelry and being the dork that I am I have spent hours pouring over different beads and leather so that I can come up with new and fun designs. It's pretty spectacular. Anytime I find something that I really enjoy I put my entire heart and soul into it, and really I think that's how it should be =) So for your viewing pleasure I'm going to go ahead and photo bomb you with some of the stuff I've been working on lately. Enjoy!!

XOXO

D.I.Y. bedazzled makeup brushes...SO CUTE!!

Hi Y'all

Sometimes a girl just needs a little bling in her life. I have to admit that, given the chance, I will try to add rhinestones to just about anything (Oh yeah my husband just looooves that lol) but this time I found the PERFECT project. Bedazzled makeup brushes! What better to make super sparkly? I'm kind of disappointed that I didn't think of this sooner. I love making things my own and if you have a vanity table this is PERFECT for you. These would look so stinkin' cute in a glass container and makes doing your makeup that much more fun =)

All you need are:

1. Your makeup brushes. I use my sigma brushes. (If you don't have those or know what they are you NEED to check them out they are no joke!!)

2.Rhinestones, scrapbook paper, fabric...Anything that you want to cover your brushes with. I just used left overs from other projects so don't feel like you need to go out and buy a ton of stuff. Recycle!!

3. Glue. Now I used Gem Tack just because I have good luck with it but I'm sure you can use any craft glue as long as you use some kind of sealant afterward.

I even went ahead and used some old scrapbook paper to cover my MAC eyeshadow palette. I have found that the most important part is to make sure that you use Modpodge to seal everything once your done. So get out there and bedazzle something!!

xoxo
